Hey everyone welcome to Martial Skill. I'm Sean today we're going to be working on the double raised hooks technique from 7 star praying Mantis.
So double raised hooks is one of these techniques that you see a lot in forums and you've probably seen this before. It got a bad reputation in some films, you see people doing this. This is kind of a thing that some people think it's silly it doesn't have a real application. It definitely does and the practical technique that -- the practical application of this technique is simply for if somebody grabbing in.
So, for example if someone is grabbing in throat, alright or grabbing in school yard sort of thing. If he is grabbing on your shirt you should be able to do this. So it's really simple as spudding. So when you're doing is you are not going like this. But in the hooks are not even necessarily important. Okay you'll see that in when we are in form. The important thing is that I simply raise my hands as he is reaching in. I can not apply this technique if he has already gotten me. That's not going to work.
Specially if he is grabbing on, too late. Okay this is different intercepting technique. I'm intercepting him as he comes to. The reason that this is important crossing through the center is because you want to make sure you've got both his hands. So this is a collection. You are collecting the hands. So as he reaches in and I collect so if he doing at speed, up okay, hit him there he go.
So even if I barely get in it's better than now, he may if I mess up, he grabs on something. I've got a different ball game down here. But I'm not going to stay here. I've got other things, I'm going to do but that's A of the technique. Double raised hooks.
The other way you'll see this and I did this before when I showed you getting a clip of my leg coming up. There is a lot of things you can do here. So, for example, I can drive my knee. I can throw a flying kick here, I can stop the knee to the stomach where and there is some sort of kick or driving the knee here. So that would be the first things. This would be the first instinct that you have as soon as he is grabbing onto you is double raised hooks. Somebody is grabbing blown.
This is beautiful. Now, this is actually done as into a chain style what we have in our system which is driving through at the same time I've done this. I'm going to drive through and hook behind the head. Now, I'm going to hook my hand but I'm not just going hook him behind the head I'm going to drive through with my forearm, through his jaw, turning his head like this.
So I'm going to go, one, two three. So it was whap like this. Next thing I'm going to do is I'm stepping inside him and I'm going to throw to the ground and driving this knee down on top his head, that's an extra bonus.
So the whole technique and this will work if he stays. It will work better if he in this way. Because my throw though is going to be, if I go one, two, here, it is a lot easier for me hit, throw him, seriously though, if I got him here and I have got I've still got him here by the way, too, where I put in, I am let go of this, driving him down. This is going to work either way. It works a little better, if you have him to the outside.
So the whole technique, he comes in, it's one, two, and here I want to use my Mantis stance set; drive down, I'm not - I am so center of my weight here. I'm going and to use this knee and I'm in a stance here, the Mantis stance. I'm also going to drive this knee down on his head because I don't want to let him move around here.
Bring him down and finishing job, you want to your wrist lock here. I can strike whatever I want to do. Okay so again slowly it goes one, or to the groin or to the knee what ever you want to do that. Stepping forward as I disrupt here through, as hard as I can, hard shot to turn the head, disrupting motion, immediately back hooking, bringing my elbow in to have leverage, still keeping this hook, driving down whatever you can do from that.
So, Pat you demonstrate now. So we've got one, two, nice, three, and there it is head. You are finishing up, that's not part of the technique but we definitely recommend that you don't let your opponent serve his final things.
Now, the other thing is, is as you are practicing this technique, you notice that if I just render as you are doing this, I've got him in a pretty bad situation. Switch your feet so I can show them. This is a classic version. As I'm bringing him down, watch out when you're practicing with somebody because the back of his head is what's going to lead here into the ground. So that is mystical never play right here on the ground. Not you can think for him in such a practicing when somebody make sure you've got some sort of techniques service or with back in your head, is what's going to hit the ground.
So other applications of double raised hooks. So I showed you one that was specific for chain style on our system that happens again most important thing that happens is that you're intercepting and deflecting the incoming attack.
What you do after that is totally up to you. So for example, if I had Pat in, , I can also attack myself. One of the things that happens is beautiful about this technique is I'm drawing him in towards me. I'm not pushing him back. I'm bringing him in without allowing him to grab me. What that means is that I can attack really hard here or here with what we call Sen Djuan. We're double attacking or palming attacks either to the center or to the jaw, whatever you might want to do that. So this would be quick though so we've got one, two, boom.
So you draws this, one, two cap lower in the less time way to the jaw Pat doesn't want me to do that too. But so this is one motion so again, you're not going ah! Stop, you're going to one, and you come in. The harder he is coming in, the harder I'm hitting like a collision of 30 mile an hour cars going opposite directions; it's equivalent to 60 mile an hour crashing a wall so same concept happening here.
Go raised hooks, its pretty straight forward. It's a great technique. Remember it is a intercepting technique. Don't try to use this somebody has already got you. It's not going to work. We'll show you how to deal with that in a different video.
