Welcome to the media center of Techcast, I will be showing you the brand new LG K990 or as it is known as LG Viewty. As you can see from the front face ship, there is no buttons on the front. So no keypad, no keyboard in that, everything is on the screen, it is a 3-inch touch screen display with a 240x400 resolution, 260k color support on natural display itself and it is fully touch screen. There is only three buttons on the front and that is the power button or the cool button and the cancel button as well.
On the side, you got access to the camera functionality with a 5-megapixel camera built-in. It is a 3G handset with full internet browsing and video streaming, job down on the back for quick access to volume and zoom functionality. And on the internal you can get – my guess this supports up to 3GB, well about we talk about this is the free application support. The 3G network that is available in UK and Europe, you have access to Windows Live Messenger, Skype, EBay and Facebook. And that is from the natural main menu, you have the three warps show which gives you access to the various applications that you really access to. So things like Skype or the Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo Search and Google Search so all the usual content a lot of people find using in these days on the internet is available directly from this handset, which makes access to the mobile internet much more appealing.
The design – so got an aluminum cover on the back – very robust, very good quality, on the back you will also find that it looks very similar to a normal camera. You will see that the camera functionality, the controls on the top are very similar to the camera. You got examined flash as well so again so you find in the proper camera or even some cameras that can have that. Slide effects as the camera functionality so video recording capabilities, photographic capabilities and then obvious the playback button. Image stabilization button as well as the lock button and the shutter key, it only weighs 112 grams.
The 3-inch screen and the sides are 240x400 resolutions, which support up to 260,000 colors and the 3 simple buttons on the front. Everything else is done by the touch screen; you have a camera on the front for free 3G video calling. For anyone else that you know that has a 3G handset, so very simple, very slim design. Fits in the pocket quite nicely and quite robust design it doesn’t creek or flex in your hand. Now the actual keys are very responsive so there is no much of a delay when you actually pushing the button. Everything is done by the on-screen display so very similar to what you have seen perhaps on the iPhone. And obviously, there are some design queues that are taken from the iPhone. But very quick and very simple access to the dialling functionality.
So we got here a blank screen is actually switched on got to save power it actually doesn’t display everything on the screen if it was not being used. If you hit the actual key on the side, it will actually activate the screen, gives yo the time and date. For information, hit it again and it actually unlocks the screen itself. If you are going to run through the actual keypad, so it’s going to be definitely a concern for a lot of you to there who are considering buying this handset or any full-screen, touch screen device. So as I said, you got the keypad functionality so just like what you are doing on a normal handset, you got T9 text. So it has predicted text and again you can have the vibrating feedback once you hit the each key.
So watch them you get the vibrating feedback from the real button, you do actually get a vibrating feedback from that. So you can get the normal 1 to 9 number keys, all you can have a full keyboard and you can see that full quick to keyboard. And it looks relatively straight forward to operate the keys are nice and spaced out but they are a lot smaller when using the normal number keypad to type in using the T9 text. So that does represent a few issues in terms of accuracy, you have to be relatively accurate in hitting in each key. So what you just going to do – so I was aiming for D’s and actually went for F and S instead, so if I want to type – speed wise, once you get used to the actual keypad itself can't pick up some good speed.
So I still I think I can probably type quicker without using an actual physical keyboard or keypad and using T9 predictive text. But this is actually quite good alternative, next I'm going to show you the web browsing capabilities. So I'm just going to access the menu, hit the browser and let’s go to home. You will see the free home page, so that is loaded pretty quick using the 3G connections. So you get pretty good Trans rates, can scroll through just by flicking your finger, there is no other way of really a bounce. Because there is no physical, up and down button that you can use. You can get the overview of the actual page and just – those are red box, which highlights the area that you can see to actual fit on the screen. So you can slide up and down and then hit it again too actually to get to that particular area of the screen.
If I hit that button there – it goes to and once it get over viewing a full pages, just obviously is being formatted for the screen resolution of the Viewty. We got the camera so let’s have a look at the camera, very simple; if you want to access, you hit the button on the side and loads up the camera. You have 5megapixel resolution on this, its ISO 800 support so little white photographing. And the video capabilities also quite impressive with the ability to shoot a 120 frames per second. That is better than the camera that I'm using right now, which is usually supports up to 30 frames per second. And what that means is you can do very good slow-motion playback from high action quick shot scenes so as sports shot for example. You make use of something like that, it takes up the full 3-inch screen when you are doing the videos and doing the photographs.
Simply use the slider on the top to slip the photo or video playback mode. The whole photo mode, you have quick access to photographs – I am just going to load one up. And you can zoom using the drop dial on the back in the lens, which is quite handy and effective. You can also use that is the zoom in on pictures and it also doubles up as the volume key. And when you are actually in the phot mode, you can actually just slide around using your finger and just drag the picture around. As well, as zoom in and zoom out, so it is quite handy and effective in the way it handles the use of pictures.
I'm just going to zoom that out, now you have the facility to edit your pictures so you can put texts over it. You can crop it out, you can different effects on it and you can put framed over it and you can re-size images and over to send them on to your friends and family. Or E-mail you can attach them to an E-mail so that is quite handy to have but the most impressive feature is the examine flash. You got 5-mega pixel resolution on there, you got Schneider-Kreuznach crystal lens so a good quality lens from that. Auto and manual focus which is odd for a phone camera, ISO 800 and an image stabilizer, which is quite impressive. So you got pretty much a fully featured camera built-in to this handset and this is something that the iPhone doesn’t have.
It doesn’t have the high quality camera, video and recording facility but this LGVT has. So it is quite impressive from LG and they have to be able bundle that screen. So let’s recap we got a 3G, 3-inch wide screen it is a touch screen display, 5 mega pixel camera with image stabilization and ISO 800 support fully light capability. You have job dial for support and for zooming and volume controls, it’s fully touch screen, the on-screen keypad, on-screen dialling pad, full front video capability so you got 3G calling. Headphone support, Bluetooth 2.0 built-in and that is the LG Viewty – go check out the full review at Techcastnetwork.co.uk make sure that I will get the pictures and this is definitely worth considering. If you are looking for a touch screen enabled device with a decent camera.
