Hi, I’m Andy Robinson, the Landscape Renovator. And we’re back at Bob’s project. I told you this is going to be a long process. We still got a little ways to go. I want to talk to you about the next phase is clustering plants. Where so many people go wrong and their design is they’ve taken that one specimen plant and they say, oh I like more specimen plants, I like this one, and then all of a sudden you have about 15 or 20 different types of plants in front of your house. It looks like a jungle and there’s no rhyme or reason to it.
First thing to make yourself look like a pro is to start thinking in clusters. I’m talking about 3’s, 5’s, 7’s. You don’t have to use off numbers. I don’t know who came up with that. 10’s work, 8’s work, 6’s work. And what I want to do is to come a little bit closer here, I’m going show you how clustering these plants and how we’re repeating the clusters so that plant has continuity. So your eyes don’t go over the place. It actually flows together. Come a little closer, I’ll show you.
So as you can see, these plant here are clustered together and probably have about 10 or 12 in here. And of course, coz of Bob, we didn’t wan to put even number and odd number apart from each other so we’ve got about 7 of the same plant clustered here. What we’re doing is we’re showing continuity thru the planting. Then you can see the ground coverings sitting here are the same but we’re planting in clusters so we don’t have 15 different types of plants across the front of this house. That’s another great landscape renovator tip and remember great yards don’t grow on trees that’s why you need the Landscape Renovator.
