Arrival Platform
Andy: Hi, I’m Andy Robinson, the landscape renovator. We’re back here at Bob’s house. Now, I wanna show you this finished driveway and sidewalk. This thing is awesome. I’ll tell you what, you know, I’m spoiling Bob, you know. The weeds that he had in his yard, this broken up concrete. Bob, I don’t know man, how you’ve been liking it. Are you loving this or what?
Bob: I love it, Andy.
Andy: It’s great isn’t it?
Bob: I know.
Andy: We don’t really care what Bob thinks because we’re just here for the fun of it. What the guys laid is they laid 5 to 6 pounds, 7 pounds brick. We probably had 8 thousand pounds. Pretty simple. But what I did wanna show you is how easy this was to lay, you saw that. We compacted the base. We made sure that it was level, could run up here. And the bricks laid up pretty easy.
What you can see here is how the sidewalk is kinda wide. It opens up, so it’s very inviting. And we got kind of a nice little curve to it. We created this nice circular landing up at the front door. Kind of another sense of arrival. Come on up, I’ll show you that. What you can see is we got a nice curve landing here at the entrance way, create a nice sense of arrival coz really nobody want to come to Bob’s house in the first place for the last, what, 10 years, Bob?
Bob: Six.
Andy: But this landing is now very nice, it’s very inviting. We got this nice curved to the sidewalk. Not a big curve, you don’t want those snake-like curves going all over the place. Those nice gentle sweeping curves is really, really important. It catches your eye. Bob, this is a nice driveway.
Bob: Not bad, huh?
Andy: And Bob, did you know that brick and laying this probably costs about as much as we did concrete.
Bob: Really?
Andy: Yeah. And you got a nice texture, you got a nice color. Has the same support with the base that we put down. This is actually beautiful, Bob.
Bob: You know but Andy, it doesn’t feel like it was cheaper.
Andy: Well, you know Bob, we both hurl on this one, didn’t we?
Bob: Yes.
Andy: Now I think what we’re gonna do is put some plants in here. You think it looks good?
Bob: I don’t know. I kinda like the dirt look.
Andy: Okay.
Bob: At least it’s clean. No weeds. Well actually, there are weeds, look.
Andy: This is kinda fun Bob. This is probably the easy part. And I don’t know what we need going to do next, Bob. But this is kinda fun. And remember great yards don’t grow on trees that’s why you need the landscape renovator.
Bob: Okay, thanks.
