Elizabeth: Hello, my name is Elizabeth Kizito, cookie lady at looking at Louisville. Chaz: Welcome everyone to this edition of looking at Louisville, I’m Chaz. Stacey: I’m Stacey. Chaz: And we are here at one of Stacey’s favorite restaurants which is? Stacey: Jack Frys on the highlands of Bardstown Road. Chaz: Now, we’re here at Jack Frys in the Highlands because we’re going to do some holiday shopping. I’m going to hit some of my favorite stores and so be it. Stacey: I am. I’m going to do some of my favorite to show of yours but also there are a couple of new places that I’d like to checkout this holiday season. Chaz: Now, before we go shopping, let’s talk about what he had here to eat Jack Frys. Stacey: Always a fun subject but we’ll start with the shrimp and grids. It is my favorite appetizer in the City of Louisville. Chaz: Then what you have to eat? Stacey: I have the cinnamon with roast chips, sauté spinach and there’s a production that was so sweet. It was really good. Chaz: And I had the spinach with pan scallops and it came also with mushroom and butternut squash. Stacey: And then Mark had what you always have a sample that Mark has, he had the pork medallions on a bed of sour cream chime mash potatoes and green beans and the cream sauce with the beacon it was liquid. Chaz: So now Stacey we had three, not one, two but three separate disserts. Stacey: Yeah. We had the cream caramel which is the owner’s favorite. We have a chocolate lava cake with caramel crash peanuts. And we had a seasonal special a day, the apple crisp. Chaz: Now the great thing about Jack Frys is it’s been around for years in fact— Stacey: Since 1933, is that amazing? Chaz: Talk a little bit about Jack Frys. Stacey: Sure. Jack Frys was a local restaurant owner. He was also boot leggier. He was a boxing fun and a horse racing fun which having to visit Louisville and you’re going to checkout the track. You’re going to see Hamba Dari Center. What a great way the end of your day on team. Chaz: I mean there’s been great place in Dennis Hooper, Bruce Nicof— Stacey: Francis Fort Copla, Michelle Philips, the atmosphere here is so warm. It’s a great spot. Chaz: Well now, we need to go walk this off so Bardstown Road is great place for walking. So are you ready? Stacey: I’m ready. Let’s roll. Chaz: Let’s go. Okay, well let’s left Jack Frys. So where’s the first place, actually you’re going to hit for us. Stacey: I want to go to Pitaya, a clothing store. Chaz: Okay, you’re going to go Pitaya and I’m going to check Chuck Rubin down here and we’ll meet up sometime later. Stacey: Alright. Chaz: If you could put it like in end of one sentence, someone who’s never heard of Chuck Rubin Photograph. Male: It’s a camera wonderland. Chaz: It’s a big place to? Male: There’s a lot of everything put it that way. Anybody interested in any aspect of photography and feel comfortable here, not everyone to live. Stacey: We’re at Discoveries on Bardstown Road Highlands, kind of next to the Bristol and we just discovered it. I’ve never been here and I’m ashamed on you. They’ve got a lot of really interesting flora lee, items, and horse shoes. I’m always looking for that and just have very nice selection. These are some unique fines at Edenside Gallery. This is a handcrafted wooden ball pen prepped in Kentucky. These were pretty inexpensive gift. Chaz: I like to come to J. Shepherd which is a great cigar shops, one of the best in the city. And I came here because this is the time to get cigars for my friends, so I’m going to take you inside, come on. Definitely great wine store to hit when you’re in the Highlands, its right in the heart of everything and their wine selection is impeccable. Stacey: They’ve got a great urban selection here at Old Town including some pretty special wines under glass. Some good stuff in this row is a wall of a Kentucky. Chaz: You know many people asked me—really cool shorts about Louisville and I get it him at Why Louisville. People love to come here and shop. So it’s pretty cool that people love to come out the city. And they come to this store at Why Louisville to pick them up. Well, to say Stacey it has been a very long day. We started at 11:30 AM. Stacey: It has hard to kind of see that in the Podcost that we cut down the web to seven to nine minutes. Chaz: Yeah. Stacey: We’ve been going at this for hour. Chaz: And it’s 5:30 PM and— Stacey: We could have gone many, many more. We only got about half of—not even a third of Bardstown Road. Chaz: Oh, there are so many stores that we drove by. Stacey: There’s a shop that I wanted to go to Coco’s a chocolate shop, lot of places. Chaz: There’s a great thing about Bardstown Road. There are so much to hangout, checkout and do—it’s wonderful in the course, during the holidays, they have the Bardstown Road to glow which is a great for them to participate and then go in to shop— Stacey: Lot of activities all year like that. Chaz: I mean in the highest in Louisville is like if you’re in the Greengage Village, this is Louisville Greengage Village. Stacey: Yeah, it really is. It’s just really distinct neighborhood. Chaz: Well, we’re closing it up here. We’re in Asia Tick right in the heart of the highlands and came back for the Lasavino and some great appetizers. In fact, what do we have? Stacey: We had some veggies, calamari, a special that they had tonight a rested mussels with some cheese and some scallops and then a spring roll that the chef kind of invented with goat cheese and cramp meat and green onion that was amazing. Chaz: So Highland recommend coming to Asia Tick. It’s a must— Stacey: It’s a great space. Chaz: It’s another great restaurant.
