Hi. This is Francisco Bujan from VitalCoaching.com. We are talking about career carry transitions and the topic for this video is 19 winning job interview strategies that put you ahead of the competition.
I mean in these times there are good chances that some of you are going to be comforted with having to perform really well at the job interview. So the key idea to understand about job interviews is that when you enter a room and you’re going to get interviewed this is a very competitive environment.
What makes you win is best to think of the fact that you are better than the other person that’s going to be interviewed. So that’s the key thing to understand. You want to be better. You want to perform really well. You want to re-input all your chances on your side. So with equal qualifications and equal CD’s particularly what is going to make a huge difference is your attitude and also the preparation. How well you are prepared for the interview.
If you have been researching the company, if you know a little bit what kind of question they are going to ask you, if you are confident, if you basically renew a little bit of your skills and check again some key information about the job that you’re going to have in that specific company.
This fact of being well prepared is going to really give you an edge that people are going to appreciate when they interview you. So simply being well prepared is going to give you probably 50% more chances of getting hired for that specific position.
So it should be very important that you take sometime at least a couple of days before the interview to actually make sure that what you bring into that interview room or into that interview space is really the best of who you can be. So here are a couple of ideas. I'm not going to be able to cover all the 19 you know interview strategies which are going to make you win but we are going to keep cover a couple of key points.
The first one is that you need to express positive energy. Somebody who is absorbed who doesn’t look like he can, he or she can perform being outgoing then eventually it’s going to be really a massive turn off. In most profession, most jobs, you’re personality counts really a lot and if you are somebody who is easy to relate with, then all you just need is going to put you ahead of the competition, make you a choice candidate.
There are good chances that you might be working with the future with one of the persons who are interviewing you. So be friendly, be agreeable, be outgoing and make them realize that it is very easy to work with you.
Another key idea is the fact that you want to present yourself as a team player rather than an individualist. I mean having long teeth might being you know a certain key and sharp. I mean those qualities are super important but at the same time you want to make them realize that when you enter into this company, they are going to be able to integrate the culture of the organization very easily and you’re going to be able to relate to people in a very constructive and easy way.
Now the terms team player, you are not there to create trouble. You are there to first merge with the culture of the organization and from within start transforming things when you are given the possibility or the choice to do so. But at first they need to realize that you are somebody who is easy to work with that is somebody who is not going to complicate things.
So you can tell that by giving them full of the examples about possible positions where you have been in, talking about experiences that you had when working in teams and with all the colleagues, how easy and how much you work and you go to build a good communication with the people you work with. So these are very important elements.
Of course, you want to show that you have character, that you have edge and simply being friendly and being positive and being kind is very often not enough. They want to know that you are somebody who has ambition and who has the skills, who is sharp with what you are doing in your job or in your company.
So all that, to be at your best really it is a matter of preparation so there are two things that you can do right now to prepare yourself better for a job interview.
