Hey welcome to watchmojo.com, I am your host Melissa, and today we are celebrating Canada Day.
On July 1, 1867, the British Act brought together the Dominion of Canada. Three territories under the British Empire were brought together. It was the province of Canada, which is made up of Southern Ontario and Southern Quebec, and the provinces of New Brunswick and then Nova Scotia. Together, they became a Federation.
The holiday was formerly established in 1879 and called Dominion Day. They used the word Dominion to describe any political union in the British Empire. The British government was also reluctant to use the name proposed by the Fathers of Confederation which was the Kingdom of Canada.
On October 27, 1982, the name Dominion Day was changed to Canada Day. Now, to celebrate the holiday, parties are thrown, parades are held and fire works are usually included.
So whatever you do this holiday, we can enjoy it.
Happy Birthday Canada!
