So it's not surprising that new research finds that most Canadian females are confused by their beauty options, and over 65% report being overwhelmed by the many conflicting sources of cosmetic information.
But now there is help navigating this confusing beauty arena, the faceinstitute.ca has just been launched as Canada's first online resource for cosmetic treatment information. Designed in consultation with Canada's leading cosmetic enhancement physicians, the faceinstitute.ca was developed to be a virtual one-stop information resource, to educate consumers and answer common questions about cosmetic enhancement treatments.

Dr. Fred Weksberg: Nowadays there is a great amount of interest in cosmetic improvement. People want to look refreshed and feel refreshed. The Face Institute helps to give patients a good source of information, so that they can make good decisions about their cosmetic improvement.
It's very important for consumers to do their homework before they go and get some cosmetic procedure. They need to have good information about what the procedure will do for them and what outcome they will have.
Once you have selected the cosmetic procedure you want, if you find an excellent qualified physician, you will get the best possible outcome. So if you go to the Face Institute, you can use their Physician Locator and you can get an excellent physician in your particular area.
Sherri Dmyterko: According to the Face Institute Cosmetic Enhancement Survey, nine out of ten Canadian women report not being completely confident in how to treat skin conditions, such as wrinkles, age spots, and dry or flaky skin. While women clearly see the importance of doctor consultations and credential checking, many are not sure who to go to for cosmetics treatments. One in four say they turn to websites for cosmetic treatment information, but almost half of all women report that searching the Internet for information is confusing.
Dr. Fred Weksberg: There is a lot of confusion about cosmetic procedures with patients. They often have misinformation about these types of procedures. The Face Institute helps to give them accurate information and will give them all the information that they need.
As an example, there is a lot of misinformation and misconceptions about Botox, but it's important to remember that Botox has an 18 year safety history and has been used in over 16 million people with great safety.
