Hi and welcome to watchmojo.com. I am your host Marissa and today is Easter. It is the most important religious holiday of the Christian liturgical year, because it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. It also marks the end of lent which lasts in 40 days and it is preceded by what is called Easter Triduum, which consists of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Now, in some countries, Easter lasts for 2 days and the 2nd day is referred to as Easter Monday. Many churches start their celebration late on Holy Saturday with an Easter vigil mass. The service starts in complete darkness with the blessing and laying of the Easter fire and the big Paschal candle which is symbolic of the risen Christ. Now, the eastern season or Easter Triduum, if you will, begins on Easter Sunday and last for seven weeks and ends on the seize of Pentecost.
