Male Speaker: Exercise Induced Asthma is mostly likely to occur in a patient with a history of asthma, asthma like symptoms or allergic rhinitis. Symptoms can include wheezing, cough and a shortness of breath. These symptoms often occur after vigorous physical activity.
If you have these symptoms, your physician may recommend a test called an Exercise Challenge. The test includes the following components: Spirometry or Pulmonary Function Testing, the quality and force of exhaled air, Peak expiratory flow, the greatest amount of air that can be exhaled and Oximetery, measurement of the amount of oxygen in your blood.
Exercise Induced Asthma is highly preventable when the condition is recognized, properly diagnosed, and effectively managed.
