Welcome to the first edition of Sass N Style with your host Amy Salinger. Today we are going to be talking about fall jackets seeing as it's getting a little chillier out. We are going to talk about one that fits your body type, great styles that will work on you, and of course the trends of the moment, what works right now.
I myself having to own quite a few of the hottest jackets. So we are going to take a look in my personal archive, starting with one of the hottest trends of the season, the leather barn. You've seen it on all the celebrities, they look great in it. I look great in it. Everybody looks great in it. I love this. I actually found this just a couple of months ago in preparation for fall. Even if it's a wrong season, if you know you are going to wear it. Get the bargain, buy it then.
This one happens to be an extremely sheik version, in addition to being the softest leather I have ever found. But in addition, it has this amazing ruffle collar. I don't even have to take this off when I go inside. It goes from outside to inside, and it works both places. And if I zip it all the way up, I am pretty much ready for any weather.
Let's checkout some other jackets. Shall we? That way, we are going to do the most basic classy fall jacket, that is out there, the Trench. It's never going to go out of style folks. I have literally had this next trench that I am going to try on, since high school, it's true, it's ten years ago. I got it at Salvation Army. It's just as to show you that you can literally find anything anywhere, and the price tag is always nice at Salvation Army. This was $6, and I still own it.
There is a million different styles as you can go with on trenches. I will wear the long Reeve style. Well, honestly it protects me from the rain. But as you can see, it looks kind of like nothing, so you take this very belt, you style it correctly, do a little tie, and make it centrally positioned, and I am good to go. And I look stylish at the same time. Let's try out the next style.
So now that we are done with my inspector gadget jacket. Why don't we move on to a little bit of color? Most people will tend to shy away from color, don't -- especially with your jacket. It is so much fun, and it makes you stand out in a crowd. It's literally something that is covering your entire outfit, so don't be afraid to try something a little bit different. It's going to go with your outfit. You can't even see your outfit.
I myself kind of a little bit of leather style so I can pull out something like this, it shoo folks, I went in and got the loudest, hottest pink jacket that I could find, and let me tell you, I look pretty damn awesome walking down the street. It's true, people stop to talk to me. I actually got it out of consignment store in Chicago for I think $15. Shop anywhere people, there is greatness everywhere.
Now I am going to up in a totally different tangent, and this is actually a really cute kind of throw on jacket for the evening, at least that's the way I wear it. It is a kimono style, so clearly not a trend, more something that's been in a culture for 1000s of years but some how I manage to make it a trendy fashionable item, because that's just me. It's shorter, craft a little bit, unlike the other ones, and quite simply, we crisscross it, tie up this big huge tie, and it plays up your outfit in a completely different way, I love the bell sleeves, and it's a pretty reasonable price point. This was around $50 at a store called Zara.
So again you can go any direction to fit all different budgets and styles.
This next one is literally my favorite jacket I have ever owned. I get stopped on the street all the time on the subway you name it, people are like, where did you get that jacket? My favorite time was at Dunkin Donuts when a woman randomly came up to me and she was in her disgusting gym clothes, so I looked even more fabulous. Shop with within all different price points.
This is from a small boutique in New York City, and it was the greatest find, it was actually on sale for $300, imagine the original retail cost. But if you look at it, the material is so expensive and rich looking. It's a brocade, and the inside of the jacket is this amazing brown satin. So seriously, you got what you pay for. You just need to know how to shop. It's a little bit boxy, definitely you got a throw back to another era type of feel. We are going to change up the boxiness, you take that thick strap, tie it up, and boom! You have a waist, and you have two little pockets to walk down the street.
Last, but certainly not least, I am doing a basic black sheep. I am going to show you a nice little trick basically of, how do I make my outfit work with my jacket and my jacket work with my outfit. As you can see all of these jackets have actually worked with my outfit, and don't think I didn't plan that. I do like this jacket, and I pass one on to you.
Basic black sheep, we are going to whip off the large black belt that I am wearing, button up the jacket. This is me leaving the house, I am putting on my jacket, I am undoing my belt. Now, that was boring, and I am anything about boring people, so let's spice it up a little. If I take this belt, throw it on over the outside of the jacket - you should spice it up too, that's the point of you watching this video. Boom! I am set up all by myself, for a lot less money too, and when you get there, take out the jacket, throw on the belt, you are looking sheiker than everybody there, I can tell you that.
