Learn About Fat Free Labels

I am Steve Turano, welcome to Steve’s Body Performance. In the last episode, I talked about milk, but more importantly I talked about what is in your food. Paying attention to what your food contains. Obviously, if we want to loss weight, we simply can eat less of the food we like because that just decreases the number of calories that you take in, and that will work. But now, let us talk about eating healthier. A lot of people will buy foods because on the outside of the package it says no fat, contains no fat. But if you flip it over and read the ingredients, sometimes the main ingredient is fat or oil. Well, how is this? How can I do this?
Well, the Federal Government says, if you make your serving size small enough, you can put fat in the product but you can say that the serving contains no fat because the serving size is so small. But the problem is the food still contains the fat and typically a serving size which is offered up by manufacturer is really not the serving size at all. So, when you are looking at trying to have a very low fat or no fat diet, you cannot just go by the labeling. You need to read the ingredients. I love you bye.
