Veronica Hill: California’s coastal resorts are among the most beautiful in the world but most pale in comparison to the stunning Montage Laguna Beach.
Nothing quite says luxury like this gorgeous California Craftsman Hotel from the finest amenities in your hotel suite to the jaw-dropping views of the Pacific coast.
I have stayed at Montage Laguna Beach before and to be honest, I could not wait to come back. After all, it is not often that you find a world class resort that also happens to have a five start restaurant and five star spa. And once you checked in and gaze out the floor to ceiling windows at the sparkling Pacific Ocean, you know, you are in for a treat.
The lobby lounge with its center piece fire place and cozy sofas is an airy open space that invites relaxation.
James Bermingham: Montage is a resort—beach resort and the wonderful beach village of Laguna Beach. Located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego are a perfect location to enjoy the very best that Southern California has to offer.
Veronica Hill: Montage’s mosaic tiled infinity pool ranks among the top hotel pools in California. I could easily spend the whole day right here soaking up that warm California sun with a nice cold drink by my side.
Each of the resorts 250 guest rooms has a minimum of 500-square feet and standard suites are a thousand.
What is best? Every single one of them has an ocean view.
Montage spared no expense making you feel at home from the state quality furnishings in the sitting room to the plush down covered king bed where you’ll sleep like a baby.
Even the bathrooms are magnificent, decked down and marbled with over sized tubs, soft Irish woven towels and lavish amenities imported from France.
During your stay, be sure to stop by the Loft, the resort’s all day dining restaurant for a delightful meal on the terrace.
The restaurant’s fresh seasonal menus use only the best artisanal ingredients from wood-fired rotisserie chicken to incredible cheese plates made by fromagier Janice Howell.
Perched on a 50 foot coastal bluff, Studio is Montage’s signature restaurant and well worth to visit even if you weren’t staying at the resort.
Led by Executive Chef Craig Strong, this mobile 5-star restaurant serves up California influence French cuisine with one of the most spectacular views in the world.
Whenever I visit a resort, I always make time for a spa treatment but it’s not often that you get to visit one with Mobil 5-star status.
Spa Montage is a serene 20,000 square foot sanctuary with a wide range of fitness facilities and outdoor programs. I am starting with their Thalassic Beach Walk, based on the art of spa which involves heating and cooling the body during an early morning stroll along the coast.
The 21 spa rooms accommodate facials, hydrotherapy and massage treatments. I am here for a customized 90-minute massage with therapist Mary Church.
I mentioned the beauty if Montage Resort and it is easy to spend a whole day strolling thought it’s 30 acres of white sand beaches, tide pools and colorful gardens. But what really makes Montage shine is the guest experience. The staff is just incredible, cheerfully attending to your every need.
It is not surprising that the resort has a loyal fan-based from around the world because it is the kind of place you’ll want to return to time and time again.
