Christine: I am Christine on watchmojo.com. High Definition Television, what is it? Why do I need it/
Francois Pare: First advantage is a quality of image. We have 60% more information on the screen, so the definition is better resolution of the screen. So you can live the experience.
Christine: We are going to be speaking to a Consumer Technology Expert to find out just why. What equipment do you need to be able to view High Definition Television over and above just having an HDTV?
Francois Pare: There are three elements. Television, HDTV, you need the HD receiver, and you need the service.
Christine: Why do you think so few households have High Definition Television? Is it because of the cost, a lack of understanding about the technology?
Francois Pare: Televisions were very high priced, now it is getting better, and there is a lack of information. A lot of people were buying HDTV, but not buying the service, so they were deceived by the quality of image, but it is growing. HDTV is growing. We think that that in 2008, there will be 6 million houses in Canada equipped with HDTV.
Christine: And how many networks actually broadcast in high definition?
Francois Pare: Well with expressly over 50, I think it is something like 58, but is growing.
Christine: Thank you so much, that was really educational.
Francois Pare: Thanks to you.
