Rebecca Brayton: Hi, I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to watchmojo.com and today we’ll be taking a look at the hat making process. Okay so how do we make a hat and what kind of fabric are we starting with?
Corine Serruya: You have different quality of felt that you could use. You could use either fur felt which is of the finest quality of hats and then you have knee felt which is an average type of quality of hats, the way you tour is that basically you take the cone and you shape it onto a form.
First we wet the hat and this is actually the steam you have to carefully stretch it. You could see the steam goes through and this actually what’s going to give its final shape. Attach the edge in order to be able to so the edge of the brim close its and this is how the hat is going to be fully be shaped and here is the hat in its final shape.
When you use a finer material the same more of that we have done on the blocking machine we could basically do it just on the whit block and we’re going to get exactly the same result and that’s what people have been doing for hundred of years. Actually, the trimming is really important since we were doing hats. We’ve known for intricate very time consuming template little flowers.
First we perforate the leaf and then we shape it and then the magic occurs we see not, who’s going to assemble together the flower where’s the leaf and I’m mounting them on the hat, no secrets is very, very labored, intensive and it’s all made by hand.
