Mars is the 4th planet in line from the sun and it is the last of the terrestrial planets. Its equatorial diameter measures just over 65 hundred kilometers, making it just about half the size of the earth.
It makes a full orbit of the sun approximately every 687 days. Mars can bee seen by the naked eye, and it is the one of the brightest objects in the night sky. The planet appears reddish, and with that it was given the nickname “The Red Planet”.
Mars has two small moons, full boast in fact or what is closer to our planet than any other moon in the solar system, less than 6;000 kilometers.
Experiments continue to be conducting on Mars to determine whether or not living organisms ever existed on the planet.
Nothing is ever been confirmed in any positive findings or heavily disputed. Mars has seasonal rotation as the most similar to that of Earth’s. However, each season is about twice as long.
When Mars is closest to the sun and its orbit, it can experience dust storms that cover the entire planet. It is also home to the largest mountain and largest canyon in the solar system, embarrassing Mount Everest and the Grand Canyon, just compare Mount Olympus on Mars rises 27 kilometers while Mount Everest is just under nine kilometers high.
