Michael Jordan was born February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn New York. As a teenager, Jordan was looked among the siblings as one of who probably not going to succeed, he could never really hold a steady job and even in his freshmen year playing basketball in high school. He was tapped from the team because he was only 5’11 and he was too skinny.
When he went on to play on the NBA however, he played 13 seasons with the Bulls and his size now at 6’6 and his versatility allowed him to play anything from point guard to small forward. Jordan once sits NBA championships with the Bulls. From 1991 to 1993, they won three championships and then again from 1996 to 1998 they won another three.
He also won MVP for the season five times, he’s also won the rookie of the year in his first year in 1985, he has won defensive player of the year. Pretty well any major award out there, Michael Jordan has won. Every single year Jordan and the Bulls made it to the finals, he won that NBA finals and MVP, he has also won the elusive MVP triple crown which is when in the All star MVP, the regular season MVP and the finals MVP, he did that twice.
In October of 1993, Jordan announced his retirement from NBA basketball, some did a factor into his decision was the murder of his father in July of that year. There have been many unproven theories about why Jordan decided to retire but in the year before his retirement, he admitted that he had to cover $57,000.00 in gambling losses and one theory states that Jordan in the NBA decided that he should take a break from basketball for a few years to kind of get rid of the spotlight.
However three days after Jordan retired, the NBA completely absolved Michael Jordan of any wrong doing and they said that he didn’t violate any lead rules. After Jordan’s unsuccessful stint in professional baseball and of professional baseballs strike in 1994, this led Jordan to reconsider joining the Chicago Bulls.
