Chaz Rough: Welcome everyone to this edition of Looking at Louisville, I’m Chaz.
Stacey Yates: And I’m Stacey.
Chaz Rough: And we’re here at Proof which is a restaurant and bar in the 21 C Museum Hotel here in Downtown Louisville on Main Street. Now you may be asking why are we here? Why are we here Stacey?
Staecy: Because Chaz, if you remember in the summer we had a ball out of Freedom Hall filming the auditions that came to Louisville which is one of what—city.
Chaz Rough: Thousands of people.
Stacey Yates: Those were the first stop I believe so it’s huge but not only Louisvillians but 20 people from around the country came to Louisville.
Chaz Rough: This was one of the biggest audiences that they have.
Stacey Yates: It was. Remember the energy and excitement of that day? And why we are here at Proof is because this is where the cast from American idol stay.
Chaz Rough: Simon—
Stacey Yates: Paula, Randy and even the new girl Cara and we’re told that this was one of their favorite hangouts here at the bar at Proof which is at the urban bourbon trail, right? In fact the hotel was recently named as one of the best in America by Continents Traveler Magazine. So it’s a hot place, we’re enjoying it and we’ll have a little dinner in a minute and we’re going to take the viewers back on this summer when we went to see the audition.
Chaz Rough: So are you ready?
Stacey Yates: I’m ready, let’s go.
Chaz Rough: I’m one of the unique people man. I’m one of the only 0123.

Devin: You know, I thought American Idol and San Francisco had 7,500 and they guarantee we will beat that. I got a good feeling, I thought we really had a 20,000.
[Demonstration]
Male: I do think I’m going to suck my blood off.
Chaz Rough: Now, what’s your get off?
Male: I’m a zebra.
Chaz Rough: Because—
Male: Because I had a dream and a pack of viewers came to me and told me that I needed to represent them and sing from the Lion King, The Circle of Life.
Chaz Rough: So sing it for me?
Male: I can’t I’m saving it for the judges.
Female: I’m the next American idol too?
Male: She is too. I’m saving my voice.
[Demonstration]
Chaz Rough: Who wants to be the next American Idol?
Female: She’s awesome though.
Chaz Rough: Sing for me.
Female: Right now?
Chaz Rough: Yes ma’am.
[Demonstration]
Chaz Rough: Who’s the next American Idol?
Male: I’m the next American Idol, that’s how it is.
Chaz Rough: Let me hear it.
[Demonstration]
Chaz Rough: Well, everyone is moving now in the Freedom Hall here in Louisville, Kentucky to go to the next level to see.
Stacey Yates: It is amazing how long that took to get through. It’s almost an hour to just get through that line—
Chaz Rough: I mean thousands of people. This is a huge amount of people but we’ll get to that in a second but let’s talk about what we had to eat her,. we had some appetizers. What do we have?
Female: We had the county ham fritters which are a signature of Proof like a coarse mustard remoulade then we had the carpaccio which they do it a little bit different here it’s made with Kentucky bison, it’s amazing.
Chaz Rough: Now, orior to our big meal I’ve got just a green salad here from the Proof restaurant.
Stacey Yates: And I’m doing a power food, I had a roasted beat salad in front of me.
Chaz Rough: So we’re going to eat this and while we were eating we’re going to take you on the post auditions where that’s where the people that get through and the people that—
Stacey Yates: Not so much.
Chaz Rough: So you’re going to kind of see The Inside Skinny and what happens.
Female: It’s a great film, great footage. You’ll enjoy.
Chaz Rough: So we’re going to eat and you guys can just enjoy what you see. Enjoy.
I’m here with Donovan and he’s from Gallatin, Tennessee. So tell me about your experience, what happened.
Donovan: Well, I went through you know I sing my song and they just said they weren’t putting anybody through from this round to the next round so you know this is my second time, just going to try it again the next time around, if there is a next time around.
Chaz Rough: Tell me about your experience here in American Idol, what happened?
Female: Well, this was definitely an experience of a lifetime. I’m very thankful to be here and I didn’t like it unfortunately the first round but I’m going to come back next year.
Chaz Rough: Marcos, you’re from Shepherdsville
Marcos: Yes.
Chaz Rough: So tell me about your experience, what happened?
Male: I went in there, I sing, I didn’t make it but for me if you don’t make it anyway—like you did grow.
Chaz Rough: But you tried right and you gave it your best shot?
Male: If you don’t try you never know.
Chaz Rough: I’m here with Barbie and he is from Columbus. So hi, tell me about your experience?
Barbie: It was a good experience, I had a lot of fun and if you don’t always try you know you’re going to regret it for the rest of your life.
Chaz Rough: But at least you gave it a try.
Barbie Yeah, we had a lot of fun.
Chaz Rough: Of course, I’m here with Pia and you were the very first to get up there and you actually got to go through.
Pia: Yes.
Chaz Rough: So you go to the next level of American Idol so what it’s feel like, what was the emotion you felt there.
Pia: Well, when they first call me, I was the first when they call me, it’s the same. I was very nervous. So I was kind of scared but this thing is what I do so the nervous, the jitters, all that went away when I started to sing.
Chaz Rough: Needless to say I looked into the winners’ area and you comes out of my bet, well what was your luck you got through the next round?
Pia: It’s a natural, I mean-I just walked up and said yes! It was really nerve wrecking and I kind of out of myself a little bit but I’m okay.
Chaz Rough: You got your defense on bright?
Female: Yes, of course, always on my defense on.
Chaz Rough: Now, I’m here with Maya and she came all the way from Mountain View, Arkansas to just play on the American Idol here to tryout to Louisville, Kentucky so what happened?
Maya: I’ve moved on to the second round.
Chaz Rough: Excellent.
Maya: Yes.
Chaz Rough: So what did you get to sing?
Maya: I sing an Aretha Franklin song, I sing the chorus of that and then I sing a Ben Harper song and called Brown and Blue and then I sing one of mine which I was really nervous to do but I did it anyway and it turned out great, obviously.
Chaz Rough: I’m here with Nicholas and he’s from Novany, as we call it right across the bridge in Littleton, Indiana. Well, let me stop here. Now, how was it in there, you got to sing for American Idol, the audition is here and what was it like? What was the feeling, how does it feel?
Nicholas: Well when I was waiting in line I was trying to have a good time with my friends. I was telling myself the worst that can happen is they say no just like any other auditions. So why not give it a try?
Chaz Rough: Well, welcome back everyone I hope you enjoy seeing you know all these people out here giving it their heart, their best to try to become the American idol. Some people made it through to the next level, some people didn’t. But we’ll get to that in a second and for right now I just finished eating the sea best which is incredible here at Proof which is at 21 C Museum Hotel.
Stacey Yates: And I’m not finished with my bistro muscles and—
Chaz Rough: Yeah, she’s got—look at this.
Stacey Yates: Yeah, this is special. That’s incredible.
Chaz Rough: So how good is the food?
Stacey Yates: It’s all good.
Chaz Rough: This is what Paula Abdul ate.
Stacey Yates: Oh, every night.
Chaz Rough: Every night and Cara and Simon ate—I don’t know what they ate.
Stacey Yates: So what a fun episode, right?
Chaz Rough: Yes, it was you know, it took you—it’s six months in the making to give you an Inside Skinny before it even hits the air that you get to see 70 contestants at May that just one of the contestants could be the next American Idol that came from the Louisville audition.
