Host: There is thing called Pseudostrabismus, what is that?
Steven Rosenberg: Pseudostrabismus is very common, Pseudostrabismus is a lot, most babies have a much flatter nasal bridge as compared to mine and wider nasal bridge and sometimes it prominent that you can't fold which is an extra piece of skin over the closer to the nose between the eye and the nose. And when the child looks to the side, you see less white in one eye than the other eye. To an untrained eye that looks like that eyes are crossing in.
However, if you look at the pupils of the eyes and see what they are focusing and test them functionally to see what they are both focusing on. Both eyes are actually truly straight, so it's really an optical illusion that's making the eye look like they are crossing in. Especially, it's more prominent in pictures where you don't have the three dimensional cues that we have in person. So a lot of times you will see worsen pictures and if you don't notice it in real life and only see it in pictures, the chance that it is Pseudostrabismus.
However, anything that you think is crossing in probably should be evaluated by a pediatric ophthalmologist service specialist and make sure that there is not any true crossing in the eyes or true turning out in the eyes because sometime it's hard to decide what’s true and what isn't true.
