Babushka!
Very good. I am the one who gives presence to all children.
Babushka is a kind of grandmother who is visited by the three wise men on their journey to see the baby Jesus. She offered them hospitality and warmth before they set back out on their track. When the wise men left they ask her if she will also like to visit the baby who would be king. She declined because of the cold weather and returned to the fire side. The next morning she decided she would like to see the baby and so she gathered her best gifts and set up. Much snow would fall in the night and so Babushka could not see the tracks of the wise men.
I could not see their footsteps.
She therefore roams her country giving gifts to all new born in the hopes that one will be the baby Jesus. Santa Claus in his red suit and long white beard is probably the most popular and well-known Christmas figure of them all.

Santa’s images as a jolly elf, were solidified in 1823 was publication of the poem, a visit from Saint Nicholas, now better known as the night before Christmas. This image is and evolution from a dignified European bishop.
In 1863 political cartoonist, Thomas Nash began a series of annual black and white drawings in her Harper’s Weekly following the description in this poem. As Nash continued his drawings until 1886 he had a significant influence on the public’s vision of Santa. The standard American Santa was formed by the end of the 1920s. Life size in a red fur trim suit. In 1931 coca cola began a 35 year-long advertising campaign starring the man in red.
