Male Speaker: Everyone knows the battle the balls could be an emotional roller coaster. As a doctor, my first course of action is always recommending diet and exercise, but in some cases weight loss surgery maybe the only option. Loretta recently underwent a new kind of surgery you probably haven't heard about it and it's called StomaphyX and our camera has followed our interviewer.
Loretta: Here we are today on the day of my surgery. I'm very nervous, very excited, I can't wait to get it done. Currently, I'm at 218 pounds.
Female Speaker: Loretta underwent Gastric Bypass surgery, and like many patients she did phenomenally well, but over the last couple of years, she has noticed that she is feeling like she needed more food to fill her new little stomach pouch. I performed an endoscopy and I found out that her stomach, which is supposed to be about the size of golf ball with actually about the size of grape fruit. The surgery in tells putting an instrument down through a patients mouth that's to the inside of the stomach, which is quiet large, and then using suction, it hold a tack of stomach of into the instrument and fires a fastener across the base of the tack to hold it in place. Fire, that's a nice of picture of a really good siltation right there, that big round pink thing.
This procedure has only been done in the United States for a year-and-half or so. The Loretta face is if she doesn't undergo this procedure is recurrence of the weight related medical problems that many of these face.
Female Speaker: How many we put in? 30? Very nice, we're now finished with the surgery, it looks like we reduced the volume of her stomach by at least 60-70%.
