Learn About the Electric Bike of Volkswagen
Male: Think Blue, this slogan stands for VW’s Concept of sustainable ecological mobility. And VW’s objective is to become the most innovative and environmentally friendly car maker in the world.
Another new development for mobility of the future was also to be admired in Beijing as Auto China 2010. To the surprise of many, it was a 2-wheel.
Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg: We think far beyond the car as such, we’ve focused on mobility in general and we do this regularly in Concept Teams made up of specialists with the mission or to look into the future and give up existing conventions which means finding new, unconventional solutions.
The gentleman behind me have developed the E-Bike which can be folded up and stored conveniently in the luggage compartment or on the spare wheel at the back with no restriction of the capacity available. So you can take additional mobility along with you.
For example, to reach particular destinations in town, or to remain mobile in your leisure time when you have to park your car somewhere. I think this is a super idea beyond mobility and the car itself.
Male: The E-Bike is not just to be a Concept disappearing into the museum after the Beijing Show. On the contrary, VW plans to put this bike on the road.
Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg: We have a special company within our organizations which sells all kinds of products supplementing our cars.
Developing such products in an ongoing process, this team is currently looking at this vehicle and is establishing a viable business case.
Male: So VW made it very clear that there are new options for mobility in the future, not just good for the environment but also fun to use.
