Hi! My name is Ryan Sasse. I am here with the Ski Chalet in Arlington, Virginia and today we are talking about how to get a new set of ski equipment. And right now we are going to focus on boots. The boots are certainly the most important part of the whole package. It’s basically very simple if your feet aren’t comfortable, you are not going to be happy, you are not going to have a good day on slopes. So, there are a few things you want to keep in mind when you come in and to get fit for boots. Very important process certainly to set aside from time to go through that process generally it’s not going to be a come and set down, try on pair shoes grab. It will take a little bit longer in anywhere from the half an hour to over an hour.
The boots you want to make sure if fit really well, you are knots is going to try something on and go with it. There is a fairly extensive fitting process and measuring your feet not only length but width. Also, looking at the shape of your feet to trying map stand up with the boot that’s going to work well for you, when your going to fit there are certainly some things that will stand up, the things that you need to focus on, you want to focus on the feet around the foot and make sure that is not a snug feet in general. Especially when you first trying on the boot because as you breaking the boot you are going to get some space out of the liner and you will get some overall space from the boot. If you have the boot too much space that turns out to be a problem, when that happens your foot starts to shift around on the boot at that point you can cause problems and not only toe, your feet but also you have a lack of control and support necessary for skiing.
When you first trying a boots you will fail probably a tightness at the toes which is common, what we will do is get you in the boot, get you all buckle in the boot. Have your flex of the boot to really set the heel which puts you and the position you will be in when you’re skiing. When that happens your toes will move back from the edge of the boot and gives you a little bit more comfort and the correct fit for skiing throughout the day. One of the basic things we are going to see in the boot obviously you’ve got heart show outside and then you’ve got the liner which is soft wraps around the foot in eternally and gives you the comfort necessary for a day of skiing. You’ve also got the buckles here; you’ve got micro fit buckles which most boots these days is to come with, there going to turn to give you more fine adjustment on the fit. You’ve also got in some cases with boots options in the back for loosening the upper calf of the boot which will allow you to walk normally while still in the both without having until in buckle the whole boot as well.
Sometime you even find options as far adjusting they can’t or the upper calf in the boot through here which can be adjusted for your bone structure which will keep the boot on a level plain give you better smooth returns going through up the day. There are different levels of boot according to different levels of this gear, when you’re focusing on your foot of the boot and the boot that you want to get into. You certainly what to think about what type of ski you are if you are aggressive or if you are just a kind a crossing through the slopes. If you pick a boot that’s going to be two steps, if you allow intermediating skier, it’s going to put a lot of under pressure on your lower leg could cause some pain and discomfort which is certainly don’t want to have throughout the day.
If you are an aggressive skier and you get into a softer or a boot meant for an obvious skier then you could over power the boot and it’s not going to support at the higher rate of speed as you put more pressure as an aggressive skier would do interrupt the day. There are going to be different shapes and common from shapes of feet and certainly you can’t just make one boot that everybody is going to fit into. You can grab a boot that is going to be a little bit wider throughout the four foot that certainly made for wider feet that will give you a more comfort that where you want get as much pressure throughout the foot at but still have a good fit and the support that you need. You can also get into a boot that is a little narrower; a boot like this is certainly made for somebody who is probably a little bit more of an aggressive skier. Once a little bit more of performance feet that way to get the better of overall feet, more support and the boot is more in extension of them and they get better control throughout the turns.
There are differences also when you go from a men’s boot into a woman boot as well. Woman tend to have there calf lower on the leg which can create some issues, tend to have smaller heel which you want a better fit around the heel. If you put a woman into a men’s boot generally you will find some issues as far as just too much base so that’s where in the started the creating separate lapse for women to better fit better for a woman’s foot. A couple of options that you will see in a woman’s boot, we’ve got a slight of different version here. Just three buckles certainly makes and easier to deal with. Less hassle with opening and closing the boot, you can also see that the upper calf of the boot is a little bit lower. Again, will accommodate the woman’s calf again which tends to be a little bit lower on the leg.
Also that liner of the boot is going to be as calf about again for that same purpose. Now, we will also take a brief look at to the children’s boot as well. Obviously they are going to be a little bit smaller, certainly starting out with the probably more of a toddler size boot. Just going to have one buckle, makes it easy for them to get in and out of the boot. Plus a little bit less work for mom and dad too. Lighter weight, more flexible still has a good fit for the child, and now major differences is really that you need to pay attention too obviously kids are going to grow so you can certainly give them a little bit room when you first try the boot on. You don’t necessarily need the fit them as precisely as you would in adult. Now, we’ve talk about boots, what we can do is talk about some additional support that is necessary to make a boot fit a little bit better and aide the person in better fit throughout to the skiing day.
