The Portuguese Word Mastery Mind Meld Method
Part-1
Doc Brown: It's Vacation Portuguese. I learned Portuguese a number of years ago in Brazil, and I am going to explain to you some of the tricks the way I did it. I learned it really quickly and in fact I learned four years of University Portuguese in 3 months. I am the only person that have done it in the school when I did my graduate work there, and I believe that I have learned a couple of secrets that made me able to do it. I am going to explain to you how I think I actually pull this out.
The first thing that happen was I met a lot of Brazilian in Los Angeles. One women told me that I have to knock the Portuguese, and I was like, what the heck. I am going to fly to Brazil and learn Portuguese. That's crazy, don't do that. That one of those things like, don't do that at home. Okay, don't just take or pay and fly to Portuguese all by yourself to learn Portuguese. I did it, but it was a little crazy.
So I landed in Rio de Janeiro. Now Rio de Janeiro is a fantastic place for tourist and you have Brazilians that are protecting you and telling you where to go and where not to go. But the other side of Rio de Janeiro is that, it's the most criminal city, probably in the world. There is more robbery, there are more attacks, there are more murders than any other city that I know. Anyway, I was there in Rio de Janeiro and I met a German friend and we were walking around. He started pointing out although the kids that were basically checking us out the robbers. The kids from the Rio, they would come down from the mountain and they actually rob tourist.
Anyway that night, this was my first night in Brazil -- my second night in Brazil. I am laying in bed and I am feeling those terrible sweat and I am shaking and I am laying in bed and I thought, I must be sick, I must have food poisoning, and finally I realized what was going on, why I was shaking and why I was shaking, and I realized what had happened, I was completely terrified with the situation I was in. Here I had bought a ticket, I'd flown into Rio de Janeiro, especially to learn Portuguese, and I was all alone. I didn't know anybody, I didn't have a friend, I didn't have any family.
