Hi what is up? It is Aaron. Here is another request. It is called Raining on Sunday by Keith Urban.
This is -- trying to simplify this version, so if it sounds a whole lot like the song but as far as the chords I am just going to be strumming on the chords. I really want to get the strumming in the chords and get helpful changes. You can do your own little picking patterns in that. So, but this is kind of come here with the intro and then the strumming pattern, so capo on the 4th fret standard tuning. I want to start out with a Cadd9.
Basically, from the top, you go open string, middle finger on the 3rd fret. Pointer finger on the 2nd. Open, ring finger on the 3rd fret and then open. Alright, that is the Cadd9.
So, you start with an Em. Strum down.
[Demo]
Em is top string open, 2, 2, and open, open, open.
[Demo]
So, strum that once. Go ahead on your 5th fret, put your pointer finger on the 3rd string up and you will play; open, open, three.
[Demo]
Then go to that Cadd9 and play, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, and 4. So, it sounds like this.
[Demo]
Back to Em again same thing here open.
[Demo]
That sets the intro. We kind of do some numbers with that too. So, we are going to just strum the Em and open, open, 5 coming up, 5th fret and then you are going to put your middle finger on the A string 3rd fret, D string pointer finger, 2nd fret. Open then your B string ring finger, 3rd fret.
[Demo]
So, the picking pattern of that is -- I am going to get real close so you can see the picking pattern.
[Demo]
That is the picking pattern. Then as far as the strumming, so I will not get this very long. The verse, it takes just like a Timex. Em, to that Cadd9 then the G and the D. Between your Em and your C, I have this little thing, this little kind of distinctive note when you are hearing the song. What I want you to do is you play hammer open, the D string. Play open, hammer on two.
[Demo]
Then I will play the string below it open. So, what that sounds like if I just kind of strum for you.
[Demo]
So, basically that is the strumming pattern for the verse. The chorus is G, to Am7, Cadd9 and then at the end, you play D. One really quick strum on G and then straight to D.
So, this is the chorus. It is like “I Pray that it's raining” C.
[Demo]
And then the Am7 on that first part is just like an Am. So, we take your ring finger off. So, you have open, open, 2, open, 1.
So, we are going to play the first part of the chorus.
And there are two parts. The first one goes G to Am7 to Cadd9 to G and D at the very end. And then second time through it goes, “Baby whatever comes in mind”. It is G to Dm7. Dm7, take your first finger and you put it on the 1st fret of your first 2 strings then you will bring your middle finger down here on the second. You just play this bottom four which is the D chord. So, I will just play the bottom chord. It says, “Baby whatever.”
[Demo]
“When it's raining on Sunday” and then you just play that Dm7 at C to get into the solo second time through. Then you go back on the verse. So, I am just going to play that beginning intro one more time to kind of get the overall feel of the whole thing.
If you think you got it, you can stop the video now, if not, you can just listen because I am just going to play the intro and then through the verse and the chorus.
[Demo]
And then it goes on the second verse. So, I hope that was helpful. And keep the requests coming. I am busy for work but I will get to it as soon as I can. So, thanks guys.
