What is up guys? It is Aaron. It is late at night. It is a commercial during the South Park, and I am tired, I have been playing basketball all night. So, I am going to try and make this one short. All right, standard tuning, put your capo on the sixth fret, this is “Say” by John Mayer. There are really parts. The main riff is when he plays during the chorus, I believe. There are two ways to play. You can finger pick it or you can play the pick. You play by the pick by this John Mayer. So, I am going to show you the finger picking first. The three chords that are used in that main rift, on the tenth fret, put your pointer finger on the high E string. put your middle finger on the eleventh fret on the string up, that would be the B string. And then put your ring finger on the fourth string up from the bottom. So, that is your D string on the twelfth fret.
And all you are going to do is you are going to pick this top string first which is your D string, the fourth string up from the bottom, you are going to go [Demonstration]. So you are going to go, fourth string, first, string, second string, so 4, 1, 2, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1, 4 1, 2, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1 and then slide this finger, your ring finger to the 13th fret, take your pointer finger and barre the first two strings, the low strings, the high E and the B, barre those on the 11th. So you are moving up from this shape where you have this from the 10th, 11th, skip the string and the 12th up to the 11th, 11th, skip a string, 13th. So then it is the same exact picking pattern there, it is 4, 1, 2, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1, slide back down to the first location, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1 and then slide everything down two frets and place your pinky, one fret up from the middle finger. So when you slide down on this, you are going to have one B, let us see, capo on the sixth, on the eighth fret, your pointer finger is going to be on the high E string, up another, the B string, middle finger is going to be on the, actually your pinky is on that string. So the pinky is going to be on the 10th fret and then your ring finger is also going to be on the 10th fret. And you are going to do the same thing 4, 1, 2, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1. So that finger picking all together is [Demonstration]. So that is what that sounds like. I use the finger pick it but I will try with the pick to see and kind of hear the difference.
[Demonstration]
So, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1, 2, 4, 1, and that is just those four positions. Then you get to the strumming part, you want to get it from the capo obviously, this is an E chord to an E Minor, so [Demonstration]. And then you are going to slide all the way up here, so it is a barre. And I think this is actually, let us see, A, B, C, C#m, it is a C#m chord. So you are barring across the bottom five strings, barre, middle finger on the second string up, on the 11th fret and then this two go here on the 12th fret on your two middle strings. That is where the D and G strings. And then, before that, and then you go slide down to a B where you barre the top five and then you are going to barre from the bottom, the second, third and fourth strings. It is kind of a hard one to get a hold off but, you know, even if you meet this one in accident, it is not really a big deal but, so you get it from E, --m, C#m. It is the strumming on that. And then we are going to go into the bridge, I believe it is and all that is, is you are going to add the A. It is the beginning, in you go. A, it is two beats, then up to that C#m, back up to D, and that actually I believe is all through parts of the song. So you can listen and watch the videos. Watch some other covers if you need to get some other stuff on the timing and stuff but that is pretty much it. And I hope that helps somebody up. Like always, if you have any request, let me know, I will try to get to it as soon as I can. I am starting to get a couple a days. So that is obviously going to take me more time to get back to you guys but I will do it. So, if you have any request, you want to learn songs, I will learn them for you and thanks a lot. See you.
