Danny Grady: Now, another thing to remember about seven chords on the A string, once you get passed the 3rd fret, the 3rd fret up above, you can do a C form. So, let's try that. Take your 3rd finger and put it here on C on the 3rd fret of the 5th string, 2nd finger goes on the 2nd fret of the 4th string, 1st finger is going to go on the 1st fret of the 2nd string and now, add your pinky to the 3rd fret of the 3rd string and then just strum the center four strings; 5, 4, 3, 2. Since C is our root, this is a C7.
If you take it up here and make D root, you now have a D7 chord. If you go up another whole-step and make E root, it is now E7. Remember, E and F are right next to each other. So, if you go up a half- step, you have F7. Come back to D, come down a half-step, that's a D flat 7 chord.
Speaker: This is 'Long Train Runnin' by the Doobie Brothers. The song is in key of G minor in standard tuning. In the 5th measure, you are going to go to a C minor 7 chord. So, for this chord, I will put my 1st finger at the 8th fret of the 3rd string, my 3rd finger on the 10th fret of the 4th string and my 4th finger on the 11th fret of the 2nd string.
