Danny Grady: Now we'll start learning chords on the 5th string, under 5th string the 8th string is your root. So again we remember that all of your natural notes have a whole step in between them with the exception of B and C and E and F. Those are all half step or right next to each other. So let's go A, B, then B and C are right next to each other so this note is C, C to D, whole step D. Now if take any of these notes and we go down say we are going to take B, we go down on fret, that's B-flat and if we will take C and we will up a fret that's C-sharp. We take D, we will go down a fret, it's D-flat, this is D again if we go up a fret that's D-sharp. Now coming back to C, if we were to go down a fret, that note is just B, there is no C flat. And if we were to go from B, the same is true you go up a step there is no B-sharp there is just C. So if somebody asked you to play something in B-sharp they are just -- they are pulling your leg they are having fun at your expense.
So let's take a look at the first one. Let's go to B, B is already on the 5th string then you are going to take your 3rd finger and bar it here on the 4th, the 3rd and the 2nd string here on the 4th fret and you are just going to strum the center four strings.
Sometimes you will see this chord form written, this is a major chord form. Sometimes you will this chord form written where the first finger has barred and you are getting the 2nd fret here on the first string. That's kind of difficult to do when you are doing with the 3rd finger bar here and that's not necessarily the technique for beginners. So if you want to get the first string consistently then I recommend barring all the way across with your first finger and then using your 2nd and your 3rd and your 4th fingers here on the 4th to 3rd and the 2nd strings respectively here at the 4th fret. Do that form so you can back E string consistently.
Male Speaker: First phrase I start begin with the fifteenth fret on the first string and then a pull-off from the seventeenth to the fifteenth fret on the second string. We are going to play two beats to the F major this time and two beats of C in that second major.
