Intro to the Barre
Tutorial: Part 4
So I am going to pick the first, the second, and the third, and then I am going to add my second finger; actually I will add it now to the second string, fourth fret.
That gives us a nice little major triad.
Now, I am doing a technique where I am getting my second finger over the first string, while still maintaining that barre. This is one of the trickiest things to do with the barre is to get a finger over a barred string. The way you are going to do that is you are going to make sure that you are pressing with the very tip of your second finger, the very, very tip of your second finger.
Now, I am going to add my third finger and do the same kind of thing; my third finger is now going to go on the second string, the fifth fret of the second string. I am going to pick the first string, which will be fretted by the barre, then the second string, and then the third string which will be fretted by the barre.
Then we can do it again with our pinkie on the second string, sixth fret. Again, the tip of your finger and you will always know that you are pressing with the right part of your finger, because your knuckle will curve just the right way.
You can also do the same exercises that we did with the two finger barre, where you add your fingers to the first string.
Again, if the three string barre is too difficult for you right away, then just go back to the two string barre, and make sure you have that mastered before you attempt this three string barre.
So with the third finger here on the fifth fret of the fourth string, pick that and slide up to the seventh fret. Then with your first finger you are going to barre the fifth fret on the third string.
Place your third finger on the seventh fret here on the third and the second string, and you are going to bend both of those notes.
