Danny Grady: Let's start something a little bit more complex. Let's try G. We are going to be using 3 fingers now and we are going to be strumming all the 6 strings. So, let's take the tip of your first finger and you are going to place it again here at the second fret of the fifth string. Now, you are going to be taking your second finger and you are going to be placing it at the third fret of the sixth string. And before we get to the last note, let's just see if we can these 2 fretted notes clean.
Again, another thing that you will notice is if you are using the right part of your fingers, your knuckles are going to curve like this. If you are using the wrong parts of your fingers, they curve inward like that and you don't want that. You want them to curve outward. Let's just hear those two nodes together.
Pick the sixth string then pick the fifth string. Now, I'll see if we can get that fourth string open. For getting a little bit of buzz with the fourth string, again use the same philosophy that we have been talking about. Make sure you are pressing with the very tip of your first finger and your thumb is down, your hand is out and you are hooking it over, so let's hear the sixth, the fifth and the fourth.
Now that we have those clean, let's pick our third finger and put it down here on the third fret of the first string. Let's just go ahead and pick that note Again, the very tip of your third finger, fretting just before the fret, never on the fret. Now let's hear if we can get that second string open. Shouldn't have too many problems with the second string open unless your first finger is touching it in which case the other open strings won't be sounding so hard. Strum all six that's G.
Giles Martin: Hi, I am Giles Martin. I am here in Abbey Road Studio to talk about Yellow Submarine. Now, Yellow Submarine was written as a children's song. It was written overnight by Paul for children very deliberately. Apparently he went around and read it to Donovan, and said, what do you think, and Donovan came up with the lyrics, sky of blue and sea of green.
Rob Schumann: A G major and then a D7, so it's the first finger on the first fret of the second string.
