Danny Grady: So, let's try that in a little bit of a pattern. We are going to do the 5th string, 3rd string, 2nd string, 1st string, 2nd string, 3rd string and then you start it all over again. It's good to just stay on one chord and do this for a while and just get your right hand and just get acclimated to the string assignments that each of the fingers has and try to keep your hand in position and use your finger strength instead of the hand strength.
It's great to just stay in this one chord and do this pattern over and over again and so you get kind of a little bit of an autopilot feel too it. So, it starts to feel a little more automatic. As a matter of fact, I would suggest just getting this one chord automatic before you move on to the other ones. So again, thumb, index, middle, ring. Thumb be assigned to the 5th string, index is being assigned to the 3rd string, middle is on the 2nd string and the ring is on the 1st string.
Giles Martin: Hi! This is Giles Martin, here at Abbey Road Studio 2, talking about Blackbird. Blackbird was recorded for 'The White Album' on Tuesday, 11th June, 1968 in this room here.
Danny Grady: So, I will start out with my 3rd finger here on the 6th string, 3rd fret and with my thumb, I am going to pluck the 6th string.
Giles Martin: It's a cool thing to play as when you are playing it, it will -- you forget that it's actually a song, you think it's a guitar playing.
