Danny Grady: Once you get the hang of doing hammer-ons from the open position, then you are going to want to try doing it from the fretted position. So let's take our second finger and we put it here on the 2nd fret of the third string and you are going to pick that note and then take your third finger and hammer on to the 4th fret of the same exact string.
Now the trick is you are going to want to leave your first 1st fretting the whole entire time. At no point you want to lift up on your first finger because if you do you are going to lose the vibration required to keep this note going. Try doing hammer on to the 3rd fret with your second finger.
Again, I am using the very tip of my finger, not traveling a super far distance, not traveling all the way from here to here. I am just right about the string, needs a lot of strength and as with all things that required strength and coordination over time, you are just going to get better at it. So don't despair some of your hammer-ons or most of the even right now are not coming out clean.
It's only to get why you don't clean. There is hope for yet. So let's try out basic like and just use some hammer-ons to make it sound more clear, I'll play it for you.
Giles Martin: Hi! This is Giles Martin at there Abbey Road Studio Two, talking about paperback writer. Now paperback writer is a landmark recording for number of reasons. But mainly because it was the first time that the English, the Brits have managed to work out bass frequencies. I will be hitting on beats, one two and then on the end of three, hitting again and then on four, adding the fourth finger.
