Danny Grady: The first three strings here, first, second, and third, you are going to want to bend upwards, because you have way more real estate to work with. If you bend down once you run out in a hurry, and again these top three strings -- you are going to want to pull downward when you bend, it's just got way more real estate this way.
But for now we'll be concentrating on bending the first three strings. So again go back to your third finger here on the ninth fret of the third string. Second finger is going to help with the bend, and in the first finger you just wanted to touch the strings above. You can touch all six if you want to. Right now I am touching just the fourth and the fifth because as I come up on to bend I am going to be touching the six eventually anyway. And so when you bend you don't get any extra open notes go on.
If you listen to when I bend without it -- now here is some of that open start to come in and you don't want that. You just want just the notes you are picking. So use your first finger to meet those strings. So again we got a third finger in place to do the bend, second finger to help, first finger to mute the strings above and then we are going to hook our thumb around over top, that's where we are going to get our leverage from. We are going to kind of swivel our hand here on the thumb. It's important to remember some of the basic concepts of keeping your palm away and using your fingers more than your hand strength is still relevant here.
If you get your palm up on the fretboard too much you are limiting your movement, you are making your fingers a little bit shorter and it just makes the bend more difficult. Although you are using your thumb here on the top of the fretboard or at the top of the neck here to help you get leverage, you do want ti keep your palm away from the neck and use just your finger strength.
Giles Martin: Hi! This is Giles Martin I am here at Abbey Road studio 2 to talk about "Can't buy me love". "Can't buy me love" was recorded on the 29th of January 1964 in Paris, not here. The reason why the Beatles were in Paris because at that time they were on constant tour.
Steve Rieck: Chords as you learned in the acoustic part are E minor to A minor, E minor to A minor, to E minor 7.
