Cozmos Quazar: I have worked with a lot of other people, and in my opinion Amanda is pretty much the best vocalist in Canada. So I am pretty much make her my main priority.
Laila: Welcome to watchmojo.com. I am your host Laila. Joining me Amanda Mabro of Amanda Mabro Band and her producer Cozmos.
Amanda Mabro: We have been working together for several years, no I guess, you could say eight years, long time. I guess you could describe our music as sort of Cabaret Rock and tonight we are going to be doing an opening set; we are going to be piano and vocal. Normally we are a quite a big band with accordion, violin, drums base the whole thing.
Laila: Have you been touring?
Amanda Mabro: Yeah, we spent all of the last year touring actually. The reason we were touring was to support our debut record Superwoman in the making. It was really the first album that we put out, that we gave a lot of support to by touring and doing a lot and lot of shows. We got far too many under our belt, so we decided to sort of take a break. So we could take the time to write new material.
Cozmos Quazar: Amanda and I write songs together. I usually arrange the music and the recording director update several other instruments too.
Laila: What are your top influences? Do you have any in common?
Amanda Mabro: I would say Cozmos is one of my big influences; he is actually as core as that is but it's true. When I say that, I mean, beside from his own material. He introduced me to a lot of music. Like we started out as really good friends but then our relationship sort of grew musically over the years. I definitely started out listing to a lot of jazz, more than anything else that I would to try and make something that's really sort of sincere and a real reflection of me. At least the me that people see on stage, you know.
