What should I expect at a post-adoption health check and spay/neuter appointment?

Your cat probably had a final health assessment just prior to leaving the shelter with you
but it is always a good idea to have a follow up veterinary check probably within about
14 days of adoption. Your contract with the shelter may actually dictate that need so you
need to read your contract carefully and understand once you’re leaving the shelter. What
perhaps their expectation are for you and for your cat. You may also be adopting a cat
that does need post adoption spay/neuter so you will want to get that taken care of as
soon as possible and setting up a relationship with a private veterinarian to get that
process started is again advisable probably within the first fourteen days of having kitty at
home.
