Layla: Welcome to watchmojo.com, I am your host Layla. Tonight we are meeting of the First Born Son, a band that unleashes blistering breakdowns and metallic fretwork, to talk a bit about their debut EP.
Curt Long: I am Curt and I play bass.
Mike Rideout: I am Mike and I play guitar.
Rob Falconer: I am Rob and I also play guitar.
Eric Philips: I am Eric and I play drums.
Jamie Schoch: I am Jamie and I sing.
Layla: Why did you choose to do not a hit single, not a long album?
Curt Long: Well we just wanted to get, you know some other stuff out of there and we don't want to do full length album, we just want to get right to the point. You know build a fan base so we can prepare for our next release.
Layla: What's the difference metal and hardcore?
Mike Rideout: Break dance.
Eric Philips: It can be technical but at the same time you know it's just something that you can rock out to, you know, a little bit heavier than metal would be.
Driving just really driving rasp and yeah.
Jamie Schoch: I think what it is, is like there's no really difference. Everybody has a different take on hardcore and metal.
Mike Rideout: The biggest difference to me would be the mosh pit; it's a lot safer, although it looks ridiculous, nobody's getting hurt and that's good.
Layla: What's like the blueprint for metal, I mean it can't always be setting yourself apart you have to sort of follow a blueprint. What are some of the challenges you are facing as a starter.
Eric Philips: Finding your own style. More or less
Jamie Schoch: Coming up with something that-- not it was like, oh yeah! Well I have heard that before other bands do that.
Rob Falconer: I won't say that there are blueprints for metal, there are so many different kinds.-- I guess a lot of band kind of follow similar patterns.
Layla: That's it. Thanks a lot guys for your time.
Curt Long: Thank you
MIke Rideout: Thank you very much.
Rob Falconer: Thank you.
