Welcome to WatchMojo.com, I am your host Melissa and today is Friday the 13th. Do not get spooked out just yet. As it happens most of us do not even know the history behind why the date Friday is like a stigma but luckily, for you I am here to clear that up. I cannot be laughing for this. In some English speaking cultures, Friday the 13th is considered the day of bad luck.
Of course the superstition exist the elsewhere as well. In Greece and Spain for example the date of Tuesday the 13th post the same stigma so where is this superstition come from? Well, one of the most common theories links to the fact that their where people of the last supper and who was the 13th guest? None other than Judah who went on to betrayed Jesus.
Now in addition to this Christians also believe that Jesus was crucified on the Friday as well Theologians also say, that on Friday is when Adam and Eve ate the fruit forbidden in the garden and that the great flood started on the Friday as well.
Female: Well, where is your next lead?
Melissa: Well, I go—okay, there is no evidence suggesting that the 13th is bad luck until the 19th century when the belief are the first the person to leave the table were 13th people where seated would be the first to die. Yuck, boo, that came out wrong. So only I mean I do not look, so to think twice before walking into a ladder or crossing a black cat because today is Friday the 13th.
Female: Yes, okay.
Melissa: Okay, that was enthusiastic. Let us go with that one. Now there is no evidence suggesting that the 13th itself is bad luck. Until the 19th century when people started believing that the first person who is seated at a table of 13 got up and they would be the first to die. In fact there is evidence suggesting that people are more conscious on this date. People even go so far as not going to work or traveling which cause the US salon anywhere from $800 to $900 million so today on the Friday the 13th think twice before walk under a ladder or crossing a black cat.
