Hey! Welcome to watchmojo.com. I am your host Melissa and today we are going to look at Judaism. A religion based from the Old Testament and the Talmud. Now, during the oldest religion to practice today, it has an estimate 15 million members. The basis for Jewish launch tradition is the Torah or the five books of Moses. And, according to tradition, there are 613 commandments.
Now, of these commandments, some of them were made specifically for groups that is to say maybe only for men, only for women or only for religious figure heads. Now, whatever the case maybe some of these were only applicable while the temple of Judaism existed. There are many symbols in the Jewish religion. One of them is the Star of David, which we all know is a 6 plain star. Now, more important symbol perhaps is that of the Menorah. The Menorah is a seven branched candelabrum, which is set to represent the burning bush which Moses saw at Mount Sinai.
There are number of Holy days and festivals during the Judai calendar. Some of them are Hanukkah, which we know is the festival of lights. There is Passover, which commemorates the Exodus from Egypt, Yom Kippur which is the day of the atonement and Rosh Hashanah which a Jewish New Year.
So there you have it a little introduction of Judaism.
