Michelle: Welcome to watchmojo.com. I am your host Michelle and we are about to meet one very hot singer who has already made it to the top the charts, American Idol's very own singer Katherine McPhee. Okay, so Katherine, first of all how come you decided to make it out to the Denim & Diamonds event? Katherine McPhee: Well, I first of all, I was invited and anytime I get invited for things that are for a good cause, especially cancer and you know I have lost -- I think -- most - of everybody can say they had lost somebody to cancer. So, it was just important for me to be here. Michelle: You have a performance background, but did you ever think that being the American Idol runner-up that would ever happen? Katherine McPhee: I always dreamed about it. Some of my biggest idols were like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and I always, always dreamed about it. I always wanted to do that and a performing was always something I knew was going to be in my life forever, but I just didn't know that it was going to come through American Idol, I didn't think that, but it was -- I can complain, American Idol has changed my life in such amazing ways and I am very grateful to everyone and the producers, everybody there who have given me the opportunity so. Michelle: So Katherine, you are the only American Idol runner-up that had two hit singles in one week. Do you think you really deserve to be runner-up? Katherine McPhee: I don't even think of it like that. I don't like, identify myself. I know magazines always say like, "American Idol's Runner-up Katherine McPchee." But I always just think of myself as -- yeah, I was on American Idol. My name is Katherine McPhee. But I don't like to focus on the fact that I was the runner-up and I really never got that thing on myself. I was really that upset that I didn't win. I think Chris would say the same thing, Chris Daughtry, I think since he came from American Idol and he didn't win, didn't even come second or third and he is doing really great, so I think it's those kind of things that - it is like why complain when you got a grade so. Michelle: Speaking of grade, your new CD - your very first CD is amazing. Okay, I loved it. Okay, it was amazing, so what song touched you on that CD? Katherine McPhee: Little bit -- different songs do different things so -- but then I think 'Neglected' as far as being touched is the song that really kind of touched me. When I listen to it, it takes a little bit of time to really get what the song is about. What it's trying to make you feel but, for me I cooed on it so, it definitely means something to me. Michelle: I heard also there is a song that you change the lyrics to, something like 'Open Toes,' like, how did it go and then you changed it? Katherine McPhee: It was like, it was really, it wasn't really me let's just say. It was just like 'My ketchup boy like the muse, my city boy like them tea straps and whatever I win because a lot of trouble they both keep wanting and I can't,' and I was like, "What does that mean? That's not happening!" And then, he came in, 'My pedicure watching French, my legs don't make no sense," But I just changed it around and made it a little bit more girly and fun. I have been meeting the girls night out; I have enough, but hand me down. So it's a little bit more fun and a little bit -- so it makes a little bit more sense to me. Michelle: Is there anybody you would like to collaborate with in the future? Katherine McPhee: Yeah, I will love to collaborate tons of people, with Celine Dion, I would love to work some more with Baby Face, I would love to work with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado and Gwen Stefani, Fergie I mean everybody. Michelle: Now it's off the record, you are no longer on American Idol. What would you like to tell Simon Cowell for real? Katherine McPhee: I haven't seen him since then, so I don't remember. Host: So, you can't tell us? Katherine McPhee: Yeah, no, I like Simon. You are a good guy Simon. That's what I would say. Michelle: And lastly, is it just how something about Katherine you feel. Is there any -- something special about you that nobody really knows or you don't really tell people or just something you want us to know? Katherine McPhee: The question that everyone asks. I don't like to step on cracks. I am not like OCD. I just don't like to step on cracks and I will step on a crack, but when I am walking I like to just skip them, it was not weird. "Hey!
