Ghillies and Stuff
This is the 5th in a series of 6 episodes in which I describe and discussed the virtues of the
more popular ghillie suites. In this episode will talk about the kid’s ghillie suit. There’s
no other ghillie suit out there that brings as much pleasure, excitement, playing fun or
which fulfills as much as the kid’s ghillie suit. That probably has more to do with the
recipient than what it does with the suit. Young boys have always played at war games at
conflict one sort of another. They also always have to camouflage to go along with that
play. The kid’s ghillie suit came available and brought to those boys a real ghillie suit.
The home made camouflage is ever bit as effective and sometimes better in a boy’s mind
it isn’t the real thing. The first kid’s ghillie suit was your basic ghillie built on a mesh
base and included the pullover top, pants, a hood and a rifle route. It was available in
woodland desert patterns and one size would draw strings so it would fit most any young
hunter out there. There are others now and as you would expect improvements such as a
zipper jacket and a more expensive version with a liner.
Actually most of the ghillie suits available would work nicely for kids if you got to
smaller size but most are probably cost prohibited for a kid suit. In 2008 everyone run out
of kid’s ghillie suites but this year there are 2 sources instead of one. The original from
Bush Rag is still available and we have one from the Nebula Stealth suite. Get your kid a
kid’s ghillie suit from ghilliesandstuff.com while he is still a kid.
Next year maybe too late, by then he’ll be ready for a sniper suite built on BDUs with
ultra lite ghillie material.
