lithotripsy is painful to me. Any suggestion to overcome this pain as doctors do not like to treat me under anesthesia.

Where do they do lithotripsy these days? I am from Burnaby, BC, Canada and cannot get my family doctor to or the two specialists to do lithotripsy on my gallbladder stone which is 2.5x2.5cm large. They want to cut out my gallbladder and I won't let them; but am having a hard time managing the pain.

Lithotripsy is a procedure that uses ultrasound waves to break-up stones that conform in the gall bladder or kidneys. The fragments of the stone can then be passed from the body. The procedure shown here is being performed to treat a gall stone. This scan shows the location of the stone inside the gall bladder. Using the image on the scan for guidance, the position directs ultrasound waves produced by a machine called a Lithotriptor to the stone causing it to break up.
