Hey, welcome to watchmojo.com I am your host and today is Memorial Day. It is a federal holiday in the United States and used to be known as Declaration Day. It celebrates the lives of the men and women who died for their country.

In the beginning, it only celebrated those who had died during the American Civil War. But after the First World War, it included all men and women who died during war or military action. According to the story, on May 5, 1866, the City of Waterloo, New York lowered its flag to half-staff, organize a parade, and held a ceremony each of the street or cemeteries. A hundred years later, it was given official designation as the birthplace of Memorial Day.

So while you are enjoying your long weekend take a minute to remember those who made it possible to enjoy.
