Learn about Ocean Tides

Oceans tides occur on earth twice a day. Tides are the rise and fall of the ocean surface which are governed by both the gravitational attraction on the sun and the moon, and the rotation of the earth.
The maximum tides called spring tides are a large tidal bowls that happens when gravitational forces of the sun and moon are combined in a straight line with the earth. On the other side of the earth, a smaller tidal bowl is caused by the centrifugal force that results from the earth’s rotation.
As the moon orbits the earth, its gravitational effect relative to the sun will shift. Minimum tides called nip tides occur when the sun and the moon are at right angles to each other partially neutralizing each other’s gravitational effects.
Tides vary in levels. Because the access of the tidal bowl just incline relative to the earth’s equator, water on the earth’s surface will experience different tidal heights during each daily rotation.
