Hey! Welcome to watchmojo.com. I am your host Melissa and today is Remembrance Day. A day we recognized the Veterans of the First World War and any war followed afterwards.
The day to recognize these heroes was created by King George the Fifth and it falls on November 11th because that is the day we recognized at the end of the First World War in 1918.
At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, we traditionally have a moment of silence. Originally, there is one minute of silence of the 1st World War, and after the 2nd World War, many places added two minutes of silence.
The Poppy becomes a symbol or Remembrance Day as link to the poem in Fender’s Fields by Canadian John McRae.
Now, the Poppy was chosen as a symbol because it seemed to be the only flower to actually bloom in the most worst fields in Flanders during the war.
And of course, the red color of the flower symbolizes the bloodshed as well.
So today on Remembrance Day, take a minute to say thank you to the heroes who passed away and tot the heroes who survived.
