Stephanie: Hi and welcome to watchmojo.com and I am your host Stephanie and today we are talking to Josh Bradford.
Josh Bradford: Well, I am Josh and I play guitar in a band called Silverstein.
Stephanie: A post-hardcore group Silverstein. Speaking of shows, how would you describe a typical Silverstein show?
Josh Bradford: Sweaty.
Stephanie: What do you guys love most about touring and performing?
Josh Bradford: I really enjoy playing shows. I mean, sweating comes with that. The amount of energy that you get to put out there and that the crowd returns to you, it's just an amazing thing. There is no other feeling like it.
Stephanie: So you guys are headlining right now and for your most recent album which is, of course, called Arrivals and Departures. So, how would you guys describe this album in your musical evolution, like, where are you guys at right now?
Josh Bradford: Yeah, it's just progressing, like it's becoming more melodic and more straight to the point. It just seem very natural for us. We never sit down and talk about where we want to go with a record; we just get together and jam and write songs and it's what came out of us. So..
Stephanie: This record is a very personal record, at least, for Shane. Lyrically like how do you guys contribute?
Josh Bradford: I contributed a little bit for lyrics, personally, for one of the songs in the last record but it is mostly Shane. We all relate to it really well because everything that he has gone through, we have kind of been right there for and have gone through the same things ourselves.
Stephanie: Do you have a favorite song to play?
Josh Bradford: I really like, I guess, I'll say My disaster is of the new record and it's fun to play.
Stephanie: Now that you've had, like you know, quite a bit of success at this point. Like what do you guys think is your next step?
Josh Bradford: We have been touring overseas and around the world a fair bit in the past couple of years and definitely we are trying to develop that. We definitely look at this as a career. We do not want to just like have a hit song, make a million bugs and check out. We just did Australia and Japan and those are really going well. Europe is taking offers huge as well.
Stephanie: At the state that we are in, in the music industry, are you guys finding to get more challenging, like you know, with all the Internet and the piracy going on?
Josh Bradford: That's not so difficult, like the industry is definitely being hurt right now but that's more so like, physical record sales, which doesn't hurt us as much as it hurts the labels and all those other entities. I think the Internet has done nothing but help us, really because we can go halfway around the world and have all these people let know our music basically just because they could listen to it on the Internet.
Stephanie: Are you guys very much involved in things like posting MySpace blogs and all that stuff like?
Josh Bradford: We trying to stay as involved as possible. MySpace is starting to get a little bit hectic. We have people helping us here and there but we are not just passing it off. It's important to us to be connected.
Stephanie: You guys are sort of categorized as 'post-hardcore' or, I have even read like Emo and stuff like. What do you guys think of these tags and how would you personally define it in a certain way?
Josh Bradford: I will definitely, I am into post-hardcore. I think that's like a decent way to describe it.
Stephanie: What are you most proud of and what are you looking forward to?
Josh Bradford: I would just like to, I guess yeah, see some longevity with this band like, we are putting in hard work and dedication and we really care about what we do and care about the people that care about what we do. So, I guess I would just like to see everybody be happy and involved and continue to enjoy what we do. So that we can continue enjoying what we do. Yeah.
