Marissa : Hey, welcome to watchmojo.com. I’m your host Marissa and today American are celebrating Thanksgiving. Now as you may know, Americans and Canadians don’t celebrate Thanksgiving on the same day and there is a perfectly good reason for that.
Now unlike the American tradition of remember the pilgrims, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest, while the American celebrate the success of the pilgrims who came over on the main flower.
Now aside from this little fact, Canadian and American thanksgiving traditions are pretty much to see.
Male: We’ll do that again.
Marissa: Now, it all start in March of 1621 when Indian by the name of Samse set foot on the found settlement of the pilgrims. Now at first they would take in the back by this new visitor until they realize he spokes English.
Though he came back the next day with another Indian by the name of Squanto who actually spoke more English than he did, now Squanto actually talked them about their surroundings and how to survive, and because of him the pilgrims has a successful harvest.
Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest.\
Now the governor of the pilgrims, William Bradford decided to celebrate and he invite Squanto sunset and other Indian to help them celebrate and they came and celebrate for three straight days. It was only after the civil war that thanksgiving came official in the U.S. when President Abraham Lincoln proclaim the day of thanksgiving at the end of 1863.
So there you have it. Enjoy your holiday in all traditions, happy Thanksgiving.
