Making it as a band is difficult in this industry but We Are Wolves has just managed to do that touring from all over the world from North America to Europe. Welcome to watchmojo.com. My name is Chantria Tram and today I get to sit with the three guys and have a little chat. Can you just introduce yourselves.
Antonin Marquis: Antonin.
Vincent Levesque: I am Vincent.
Alexander Ortiz: Alexander.
Vincent Levesque: We Are Wolves.
Host: How did you guys even come up with this name?
Antonin Marquis: I like the T-shirt story
Vincent Levesque: And the galaxy far away.
Alexander Ortiz: A story begins --
Vincent Levesque: No Alex showed up and the dance space with their homemade T-shirt and used just a stencil that said We Are Wolves.
Alexander Ortiz: The best way to know if you like the name of the band you are looking for is to like think about a name and print it on a shirt and wear it and see how the people react.
Host: How would you describe the music that you make?
Vincent Levesque: There is a big part of the Rock in that coming from specially punk and the hardcore backgrounds. For us you know young kids we were more into a hard stuff and somehow the electronics came into it, analog electronics mostly and all the way.
Alexander Ortiz: And dance. The idea of dance.
Host: Aside from the obvious, what are some of the benefits of signing with a record label?
Vincent Levesque: Because we used an American label and the fact that we have a label at home now, you know it's a lot easier for communication and making sure you are actually on the same path, you know as your record label.
Antonin Marquis: Finding record is on vinyl too. That's one of the benefit from being on there to get our first tracker. It was only out on CD.
Speaker: Coming from a punk background we always want new vital kind of --
Host: How you thought about the alternative methods of sharing your music, perhaps online for free for your audience?
Antonin Marquis: Personally I do that. You know, I read about a band and make you read about the band that you can't hear it. I go on the internet and I buy the vinyl if I like the record plus it brings people into shows. For instance, our record is out only in America, not in Europe. But we were there in Europe like a few weeks ago and some place in Holland the kids knew the layers, the songs. So in the way it helps.
Alexander Ortiz: The sad thing about that and maybe just maybe it's me but I have the impression because you can download and not buy, you can just fix so much music and not get into the experience of music because you are just like grabbing everything. So you are okay, this and this. Okay now this.
Vincent Levesque: the real idea of object, as well. You know I like the cover art. I like the Dexter.
Alexander Ortiz: That's what I am talking about like the experience of music, like when you finally just sit down and just check out the artwork or that's an experience of music.
Host: As an artist, I am really sensitive to my art. I am critical of it. Are you guys the same way?
Vincent Levesque: We are always same, we like the worst band and we were like a such a small thing and is it worth that and it's always like --
Alexander Ortiz: We are always like taking that what we have and just and rethinking it and trying to reconstruct it in another way because it maybe better.
