Hi! I am Angus Mackenzie, and welcome to the judging for the 2009 Motor Trend car of the year. There are 17 cars eligible for this years award, ranging from Japanese gas misers, the good old fashioned Detroit muscle. They are Acura TL, Acura TSX, Audi A4, BMW1 series, Dodge Challenger, Honda Fit, Hyundai Genesis, Jaguar XF, Lincoln MKS, Mazda6, Nissan GT-R, Nissan Maxima, Pontiac G8, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix, and VW Passat CC.
The judging start here at the Hyundai-Kia approving ground, where in addition to the normal performance test each of the judges will drive each of the vehicles over the various tracks here at this circuit. They include a five mile high-speed loop, a handling loop, and a special surfaces track. Once we completed this part of the process we narrow the field down to 10 finalist. And we take those ten cars on a 25 mile road loop. At the end of the road loop we gathered together a discussion, argument and voting. At the end of, which we will have decided the 2009 Motor Trend car of the year. So stay with us.
