First name between the 16th and 17th Century by Galileo, the Aurora Boreal is translates from Latin into the red dawn of the north. That is their scientific name but they are commonly known simply as the Northern Lights.
This amazing light are created when solar particles are thrown out of the sun and when this particles collide with atmosphere gases in the earth’s atmosphere it creates light particles.
When million of these collisions take place you have in Aurora. The most common places to see the Northern Lights are in the northern parts of most of the northern countries, the northern parts of Russia, Alaska, Canada, however, the Northern Lights can be seen pretty well anywhere in the world. It can even be seen at the equator but do not get your hopes up, that only occurs about every 200 years.
