The Russian Empire was proclaimed in 1721 but the Empire can be traced four decades earlier when Sir Peter the 1st became ruler.
This empire covered almost the six of the earth land maps stretching across a dozen time zones from the Baltic Sea to the Pacific Ocean and grouping together about a 150 ethnic groups throughout Europe and Asia.
The capital city was Saint Petersburg, Peter the Great and Catherine the Great became some of the empires famous leaders. Catherine the Great contributed to the empires literally collection, a cultural playwright she scripted several comedy.

Another amazing development was the creation of the Trans Siberian Railway almost 5800 miles long. It had great importance in the economic, military, and imperial history of the Russian empire.
By 1904, its completion opened at the Far East to Russian export and allowed Russia to pursue the conquest of Asia.
This turn of events let the Russia’s defeat against Japan then the struggle and poverty following the outbreak of World War I finally drove the masses to revolts.
The Soviet Union kept the large proportion of its territory following the February revolution of 1917 that put an end to the Roman off Dynasty.
